Equipment
When designing your puzzles, you can expect teams to have:
- Calculator
- Clear Tape
- Pencils/Pens
- Ruler
- Scissors
You can also expect teams to be familiar with all of the following encryption methods:
- ASCII
- Binary
- Braille
- Morse Code
- Nautical Flags
- NATO Alphabet
- Semaphore
- Sign Language
- Simple cryptograms
You are welcome to create puzzles that require equipment or knowledge not listed here, but there is no guarantee that teams will be prepared to solve your puzzles, which may cost you points.
Other items you must bring to the event:
- Enough copies of your paper only puzzle for each other team in your location to solve (+1 for game control if you are feeling kind)
- Enough copies of your "Other" puzzle for each other team in your location simultaneously solve
- Descriptions of how to solve your puzzles (enough copies for each other team to have one)
- Snacks and/or lunch items (optional)
- A laptop (recommended)
- Smart phone (required for answer submissions and voting - laptop with wifi would work too)
- PDF versions of your paper puzzle and paper solution need to be provided as well, so that teams from the other site will be able to access them. Instructions for uploading PDFs will be available before the event.
Answer submissions, real time score updates, and voting will be conducted online. We expect to have wifi available at the event.
